Do You Have A Clue About The Betty Bash?

By Kathleen Reidy for Friends of Mothers Trust Foundation

The Friends of Mothers Trust Foundation will hold its biggest fundraiser of the year on Friday, October 12th.  This ladies-only event seeks to raise more than $95,000 at this year’s event for children in need in Lake County.

“CLUE” is the theme of 14th annual party and attendees will actually be able to participate in solving the mysteries of the game throughout the evening.  Will it be Miss Scarlet with a candlestick in the Conservatory, Mr. Green with a rope in the Dining Room, Mrs. Peacock with a revolver in the Library or Colonel Mustard with a pipe in the Kitchen?  You’ll need to be there to find out.  Winners will be entered in a drawing to win a brand new iPad.

The party will be held at the historic Calvin Durand Hall at Lake Forest College which is the perfect setting to solve the mysteries of “CLUE”.  The breathtaking building, built in 1907 by renowned architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, was modeled on the dining hall of King’s College, Cambridge.  The red-brick and limestone early English Renaissance gathering hall exemplified the Collegiate Gothic style, especially with its Italian-inspired English terrace.

Local restaurants from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and the surrounding communities will provide tastes of their signature dishes, and an open bar will feature wine, beer, and champagne!  The event will feature a fabulous silent auction filled with wonderful treasures and “Dan the Piano Man” who will provide live piano bar entertainment from 8:00-11:00pm. Dan has worked with Second City, The Redhead Piano Bar, The Laughing Chameleon, and performs at a number of private events. He is sure to get the crowd singing and dancing and will be anxious to hear your requests! Tickets are $75 until September 28th.  After that date they will increase to $85.  Tickets can be purchased at www.motherstrustfoundation.org, or by calling (847) 482-9189.

The 2012 Betty Ball sponsors are The Garrett Family Foundation, Lake Forest Bank & Trust, Schiff Hardin LLC, Julie & Tom Wendorf, Barbara Monsor, Karen & Bob Bush, Daria Andrews & Prudential Rubloff Properties, Angie & Sam Allen, Boilini Company, Zengler Cleaners, The Salon Ltd., Roycealee Wood, Dr. Ara Goshgarian D.D.S. and Dr. R. Tracy Durrett D.D.S.

We invite all ladies to join us at our 14th Betty Ball as we celebrate the mysteries and problems that you have already solved for children in need – as friends and as an organization dedicated to making a difference, one child at a time.  Bring your sisters, mothers, aunts and girlfriends – together, we can do even more!

For more details or to buy tickets, visit www.motherstrustfoundation.org or call (847) 482-9189.

Who is Betty?

Betty is the wild and wacky alter-ego for all the beautiful, strong and dedicated women in Lake County who take care of everyone around them. When Betty sees children in need in Lake County, she doesn’t wait around for others to fix the problem. She jumps right in and gets involved – by hosting the Betty Bash!

About Mothers Trust Foundation

Mothers Trust Foundation provides emergency assistance to children in Lake County. Through the grants it gives to children and their families, Mothers Trust helps the least fortunate children with help that no one else can provide. Each week, the Foundation reviews grant requests from social workers, school counselors and court officers who work with children in crisis. The average grant is only $65 per child but it often is the difference between homelessness and a security deposit on an apartment; athletic fees; summer camp; classes at College of Lake County; or transportation to doctor appointments.  In the past 14 years, Mothers Trust Foundation has assisted more than 17,000 children from communities throughout Lake County with nearly $1.5 million in grants.
