What’s Up With Lake Forest’s Teacher Contract?

Like a lot of people around here, GazeboNews has been wondering what’s up with the Lake Forest High School teacher contract. The LFHS Board of Ed and the Lake Forest Education Association reached a tentative agreement on a four-year contract in the late hours of Sept. 18 (or the early hours of Sept. 19—it was a long negotiation session), and the teachers returned to the classroom on Sept. 19. When will the terms of the contract be available to the public? We asked District 115 and the Lake Forest Education Association for an update.

LFEA spokesman Chuck Gress said: “The LFEA received a copy of the tentative agreement from the BOE late Friday afternoon (Sept. 28), according to our lead negotiator, Tom Gigiano. The LFEA negotiating team is currently reviewing the document for accuracy.

Mr. Gress said he’d have a more accurate timeline later this week.

District 115 spokeswoman Anne Whipple said the contract won’t be made public until after the LFEA ratifies it and the Board reviews it; the next D-115 BOE meeting is Oct. 9.
